MAINTAIN TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERSHIP
Communication needs to be two-way. Besides me keeping you informed of ARBA business, I would also listen to the members to learn what they need & want as well as for feedback on the Board’s actions. I believe face-to-face is the best method of communication. This is achieved by being at the shows and interacting with the members. Prompt attention to phone calls, emails, and letters is a must. Keeping the District 8 website updated would allow members to quickly access much of what they need. With our Canadian members, face-to-face contact on a regular basis is harder to accomplish; emails and the District 8 website are even more important for these members.
REPRESENT EVERY MEMBER TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY
Each member has the right to have his/her opinion heard; it doesn’t matter if you’re a long time member or new to this hobby. Many answers to the challenges we face today may come from the members if we only listen. I go to bat for those I represent. And…I am nobody’s “yes man.”
WORK IN A POSITIVE MANNER WITH THE BOARD MEMBERS
I want to work in a positive manner with the other board members and officers. While we may not always see eye to eye on every situation, it serves no purpose to act unprofessionally.
OPERATE THE ARBA IN A FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER
Times are tough for many people right now, and it’s no different for the ARBA. A watchful eye needs to be kept on how much is spent and what it is spent on.
MAINTAIN STRONG EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
For our youth, we must keep the various educational opportunities available so they may progress as individuals and members. For our registrars and judges, their educational programs must be designed so they have the best training possible when handling our animals.
I have other goals, but I feel these are the most important and most pressing. Overall, my goals add up to doing the most honest, fair, and capable job that I can for the members of District 8. While I am human and make mistakes, I also try to learn from them. In all matters of my life, I always do my best to treat everyone in the same manner that I want to be treated. Should the members of District 8 give me the opportunity, I won’t let you down.
